In May I spent a whirlwind week in Manhattan, staying in a great neighborhood close to the Hudson River. Scrumptious bagels with lox shmeer and excellent coffee, just around the corner at the Dominican place for four bucks!
The city’s energy is booming, a universe unto itself, seemingly untouched by the world around it falling apart. At Rockefeller Center I went with family and friends to Christie’s huge auction house, which hauled in a record $495 million dollars a couple of days later. Room after room was filled with great to awful pieces of art. Collectors roamed the galleries, which to my delight were dotted with meticulously constructed fashionistas. Very rich-looking Asian people were everywhere.
I took a walk one day through Central Park with my cousin, leaving from his East Side penthouse apartment overlooking the Natural History Museum, the luckiest real estate score in my family’s history. We passed a retired Philip Roth sitting on a bench reading, and young Asian couples in their wedding clothes, staging camera shoots on the lawns under the blossoming trees. In the right neighborhood, it was a beautiful Spring day and everything was right.
I was lucky enough to catch a number of flash subway performances, a marvel of a break from the normal covert staring I do at people in the subway. With incredible daring, music blaring, young black kids shout an announcement about how they’re going to entertain us, and begin break-dancing and back-flipping in the tiny space they’ve commandoed. People always clap and give money, they are amazing.
A couple of times I heard a singer so great on the subway platform when the doors opened, I just got out right there. The best and the cheapest, the best and the most expensive, the best of all is in New York!
What a contrast coming into Santa Fe, completely silent and dark when I drove through on the way home. At one o’clock in the morning apparently nobody is on their way to anywhere in this city.
I’m leaving for Peru June 8th, and back in Santa Fe on the 22nd . Last time in Peru I got my Speaking Stones, the greatest spiritual/material gift of my life. What will happen this time, I wonder?
Have a wonderful month, and I hope to see you in vibrant yet calming Santa Fe.
Love, Elissa

More on the Mermaids: As blog and Examiner readers know, I excitedly wrote about the two Animal Planet mermaid documentaries that aired May 25th. I see the major news organizations are calling it a hoax. If you didn’t see it, check Animal Planet in case they air it again! Everyone should watch both documentaries because it takes awhile to get used to what you’re looking at. By the end I was standing in front of the tv, watching the same undersea footage a few times before my eyes could catch why they were showing us this video. There’s one video on Youtube where someone slowed down footage from a Russian tv newsreel, showing a fish with a big spear in it, and then something that was not a fish flashing in, presumably to get the fish and retrieve the spear. Here’s one where there’s a mermaid caught in a fisherman’s net.
A thinking person would have to suspend their judgment of obvious human character (the scientists interviewed are clearly intelligent and responsible), plus a few other senses to disbelieve what’s on these videos, recorded at different times throughout the years. However, “Are you going to believe me or your lying eyes?” is a question we’re often asked in this society. Huge problems for status quo organizations like oil companies and the military are inevitable if they now have to take into account an aquatic humanoid species. One among many that they’re killing with their sonar. Those beached aquatic animals all show extensive sonar damage. An estimated variety of 33 million sea creatures will die in the next five years from government and corporate use of sonar that’s deadly to them.
Psychic Messages and Horoscopes for June 2013
CHANGING TIMES: June feels like it’s going to be a tough month. Many are having to get used to what’s new and different in their world; even if what you’re getting used to is really good, June will stretch us. Behind the scenes and up front, powerful people with blinders to all but their agenda are on the move. Chaotic events can get us going in the wrong direction.
It’s time to turn off the news or join the revolution. No matter which direction we go, we can’t escape noticing all that’s breaking apart and unwinding. (When I asked for some sign of the times, I got the words “war, famine, mean-ness”.)
I’m pretty sure astrologers would not agree with my tone for June; there are important beneficent and opportunistic planetary trines that bring harmony and power to many individuals. Maybe the Keystone Pipeline won’t be passed after all. Mercury will go retrograde June 25th amidst some very positive aspects, pointing to the possibility that by the end of the month, the collective tide will turn in a more hopeful direction. However if it does pass, it’s probably a sign we’re going to hell in a jet.
Personal Guidance: It’s a naturally macho month. Protect the vulnerable people and creatures in your life. Do what lights you up and avoid drama as your first line of defense.
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): You could truly doubt that you’re in the right place, but you are! You could have misgivings that are completely unfounded. You have a lot at stake and a lot to look forward to. The last thing you want to do is be doubtful—it’s got no place in your world. Carry on! Fire signs meet new people in new circumstances that open their eyes and widen their world.
Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): You realize what you need done or need to do. It calls for research to learn the best way to move forward–you need feedback from the universe! To reiterate, you’re bent on being successful at something you feel somewhat separated from, but the answer lies in what you can learn from the world, rather than what you already know.
Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): If you have complications, conflict, chaos, do not ignore them; it’s a good time to begin to straighten out any snarled or brewing situations. It’s easier to find solutions now than later—be realistic in June. You can totally handle the truth; your emotional self is ready and willing to help you get on solid ground.
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): In June it’s easier to see what you want, ask for what you want, and get what you want. There’s an accord between your desires and what you’re willing to give yourself, and you decide to really go for it. The way you’re feeling about yourself and life, satisfaction guaranteed!
