I hope I’m dead wrong, but this is what occurred to me last night:
Judging from my 2012 newsletter’s summation of the year, “Nobody gives up nothing” and “People don’t cooperate to keep things afloat that should sink on their own lack of sustainability”, it looks like there could be no deal, and we’re going over the fiscal cliff. My long-time wonderment about a 2005 prediction of a” significant economic contraction” that follows something like a big trial in the U.S. would be fulfilled if there’s no deal: the unfolding and nasty Libor Scandal trial, and the who’s-going-to-win Boehner-Obama battle.
I looked on the tarot, right after sending out yesterday’s cheery Winter Solstice note about how to celebrate tonight, and what it looked like on the cards was that we were going to take the long way towards economic recovery, and get more cozy with each other than otherwise planned as we weathered a weak economy. Not reaching a deal also fits with the message I got from the North (earth element) for 2013, about how stark consequences from mismanagement would show up in very concrete ways. Literally and figuratively, the earth would not yield in some places as it always had.
I think it will have a positive impact on the quality of relationships in the U.S., even though the fight is about not being our brother’s keeper. Last night I tweeted: ” Going over the fiscal cliff is a fit reflection of change without cooperation, forcing poor us to focus on supportive relationships anyway.”
The fear is over that today is the end of the world, but it could mark the beginning of a very different cycle for the U.S.
