Intuition FAQ’s: What’s blocking my intuition?
There are a lot of different things that can block intuition. This article discusses two: early childhood experiences, and other peoples’ opinions.
What do people need to know about their intuition, first and foremost? You are born with it, it is part of the original design. It is not acquired through practice, or some process, although practice and processes, especially visualization techniques, help to develop it.
Intuitive flashes, psychic dreams, and other consciousness phenomena like deja vu, happen automatically. The way us humans are designed, in the blink of an eye we can see farther than the present, and through appearances to a deeper truth.
What happens to a lot of people, judging from thirty plus years of clients, is that they are dissuaded early on from using their intuition. Early precognitive abilities blurted out into a fearful world of adults not set up to deal with, for instance, death, can cause people to turn off their extra sensory perception. Many times I’ve heard tales of what happens when little kids announce something like, “Grandma’s going to go to heaven next week”. People around generally have a bad reaction, and the kid can end up feeling they have somehow harmed Grandma and hastened her death.
The intuition can also get turned off because it caters and speaks for our uniqueness, and diverse creatures that we are, the intuition (speaking for the heart) can demand some pretty bold action on the way to making our unique dreams come true. We “don’t listen to ourselves” and turn off the inner voice’s demands out of fear of change.
Distrust of the intuition will happens if we’ve absorbed society’s distrust and disapproval of our unique needs and path. The intuition only speaks for what’s right for its owner.
When it’s turned on and we’re listening, it has the ability to guide us to our uniquely fulfilling destination. That’s its primary function. It makes sense, us all being different, that we have a unique navigating system. It leads us to experiences that help us grow in consciousness, and navigates us, through communication in many different languages, to the richest experience of life we can come up with.
Cultures ancient and modern have wise sayings about “follow your heart”. People everywhere recognize the inner guidance system is superior to any for making important life choices. Movies teach us this lesson plot after plot, as our stars make the heartfelt, tough choices.
Sometimes our own lives get just as dramatic around what the intuition has to say. Your family and friends are in horror that you’re moving to Africa? But night after night you dream of the continent’s invitation…that you’ll grow there. It’s twenty years later, and you’re living your dream in Africa. This is why people are happy to follow their “irrational” intuition.
Uncover your own blocks to the intuition, one by one, and let it take you where you really want to go!

September 2012 and Inner Change
I left out a message in my September psychic newsletter, and it’s for people who are more than ever, aware of their changing selves. It can produce weird-feeling, uncommon sensations to sense so much inner change. Just keep on doing what needs to be done to keep up with everything, as you weather the morphing inner state of your consciousness and perspective. Change now is good change…what you’d want to be worried about is feeling stuck! Don’t worry where things are going if you feel like this. Put your energy into what needs to be done around you.
Also, you could be extra tired or needing things to be slow-paced around you. Be considerate of your changing needs….be understanding and adjust your pace.
Here’s a story from the newsletter about dealing with inner change I didn’t like. The same technique could work for anyone, following the story is a simple mental suggestion tool to try. (Newsletter readers, skip to the bottom.)
“Last month I told you of my adventure of sitting down to write this newsletter, next to a rattlesnake. In the weeks that followed, I learned a little something about trauma from doing that!
The next time I went out walking in the morning in an unfamiliar place with low brush, my ankles and feet shrieked with alarm. “Oh No You Don’t!!” I didn’t even know they had a brain! I felt tremendous fear there, before I even had a thought, it seemed. There was no way I was going to enjoy taking a walk: now I was on the alert for snakes. My feet and ankles kept sending chills of fear as I moved through the unfamiliar arroyo, this one in Santa Fe, though. I had generalized my scary experience 50 miles south, the fearful memory of which was now moving from my ankles to my guts and chest. Maybe I wasn’t going to enjoy walking around New Mexico anymore, at least in the morning. At night my fear abated considerably.
This didn’t go away really (although I am much more observant now) until my dream self took over. One night I dreamt, in many frames, of different shades of rattlers, all big and potent-looking. Some were being casually held by people who were walking, some were just moving in the dream-sand right in front of me. Although they were still scary, I got kind of used to them: they were all going somewhere and not coiling, just like the one I really saw.
Whatever primordial intelligence that sounded the alarm in my ankles is not cranked up anymore, and I’m back to enjoying the beauty around me, and now, the marvellous fragrance of roasting green chile coming from supermarket parking lots and roadside stands. Fall in Santa Fe is one rich experience after another…tomorrow Zozobra will burn, the 60 foot puppet upon which we’re all invited to hurl our gloom at, so we can get on with it. After that community purification ritual, Fiestas in the plaza begins its songs and dances, then the cottonwoods start blazing gold and it’s time to cruise around northern New Mexico and absorb its glory.”
Dreaming Technique
Before you go to sleep, tell yourself you’d like to get help in your dreams for this or that, and put right by you, a pen (…you’ve checked to make sure it works), and blank paper. When you wake up remembering anything, write it down. The trick to building up a relationship with dreaming, is to accept whatever it is you get as meaningful. This way, more and more and closer and closer, what happens in your dreams gets easier to remember, and the dream language clearer. Ask for healing, ask for guidance about something your rational mind is having a hard time figuring out.

Elissa’s September 2012 Psychic Newsletter
Dear Friends,
Last month I told you of my adventure of sitting down to write this newsletter, next to a rattlesnake.
Have a wonderful September!

September 2012 Insights and Predictions
Order, Order, Order! This month’s guidance is about prudence, brought to you by Virgo. In short, September is purifying, as in things happen that are purifying, and people feel the urge to purify their lives. Recommended actions are to simplify and streamline what’s yours to do, in whatever quarter is staring you in the face. It’s by removing obstacles that you make progress. So..Virgo prudently announces, it’s time to get things out of the way! Clear things out! Tie up loose ends!
A hidden plus: Removing the obstacles as you one by one tidy up your world, could reveal when there’s a view, a train track directly to your next best step.
The U.S.A .(from the Speaking Stones): What’s taking root is new, it’s not what’s old, even though the archaic past is so
visibly on display. Millions of dollars of accumulated wealth are being hurled at maintaining its appointment with power.
But power has moved on, and the past has no roots like it used to.
Judging from the Fall 2012 psychic pictogram up top, it’s President Obama in the White House…I believe what’s speaking is the spirit of 96% of the African Americans in this country, according to a recent poll.
A big show that has no roots, that leaves out too many, that’s just about the past–maybe it will serve as a big lesson-
cum-morality-play, and in an ironic twist, it will turn people off to the culture that produced it. How will the American
people respond to millions of dollars of negative campaign ads? It remains to be seen.
The World: Bigger changes up ahead–I got a whiff of the same very big changes I mentioned in August. Although this doesn’t square with what’s in the news in the U.S., where it’s reported the housing market is improving and people are hiring, what’s in the air is the potential for change in basic circumstances like financial systems, that affect everybody.
elements like the basic underpinnings may no longer be stabilizing forces.
Personal Guidance for the Astrological Signs in Fall 2012
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): There’s a big feeling of expansiveness and something arrives that wasn’t in the picture before…some new direction or development. Your intuition is really the guide for what to be doing. You’re quite likely involved in trying to re-establish yourself with a different security-base or financial source. You could be trying to shake things up and snag a higher standard of living. This isn’t a time of using your talents so much and expressing yourself creatively, as getting things in place, and adding something substantial to your life.
Tarot: Think in terms of what you can strengthen and develop in your own self, and make health a priority.
Water signs (just for September): Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): Although all the other messages are for Fall, this is just for September. It could be that there’s a tendency for water signs to end up with a great deal on their plate, or they preoccupy themselves with what they don’t know…the mysteries ahead, and their different concerns. There’s a lot of chatter coming up from your own unconscious. It could be because you’re re-rooting yourself..there’s some kind of digging-up, or unclear-at-this-point re-rooting process going on with water signs. A simpler existence will seem desirable pretty soon.
Tarot: Whatever it is you’re manifesting might lead to a change in plans, a different route taken or something else considered.
Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): Now it benefits you to back up your interests and goals with implementation: getting educated, attending to details, and learning all you need to. It’s a time to be bold with your dreams. Other peoples’ fortune can come to your aid. This can be a karmic turning towards new opportunity, and a foundation built on deep desires.
Tarot: Your Fall priority is securing a stable future, and making something happen that fully expresses your creativity. And, brings more cash!
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): There’s much you’re trying to finish up, figure out, and deal with that’s on the table already, and the more present-centered you are, the happier you’ll be. This is a positive time of putting down roots you really believe in. You are setting up for yourself what you can really appreciate. This is a very fruitful time and there’s a lot you might produce. Where it all leads is kind of a mystery right now.
Tarot: Are you looking for a relationship? November could materialize one, or the right school/place/situation to really develop yourself.

Omitted entry: August 2012 Predictions and Newsletter
In the middle of posting my September newsletter, I noticed that whatever posting job I did of the August newsletter, didn’t do the trick! Here is the omitted August news:
Dear Friends,
Spiritual lessons and messages come in a variety of languages and from many different sources. My big lessons always seem to involve a lot of adrenalin coursing through my system. Every once in awhile, I get into some kind of jam in an out-of-the-way place. Hopped up on fear and exhiliration, it’s often when I learn something important, and fast. Yesterday, I got a little lesson in the value of staying calm from a rattlesnake.
It was the morning after an unplanned-for late-night birthday surprise starring Mercury retrograde and my Acura, which had to be towed. The tow truck driver let me off at a nearby Motel 6 in Bernalillo, NM. Luckily, the RailRunner train up to Santa Fe was just across the street.
Arriving a few minutes early to the train station, I walked a little ways down the RailRunner track–and there was a real roadrunner, running in front of me into the desert! I plopped down to write my very late newsletter, looked to my right, and there was a big rattlesnake! Don’t just sit down in a desert without looking around.
The rattler had been slithering across the arroyo, his long body a gorgeous pattern of beige, tawny and taupe that blended right in with the ground. We were so close his strike could reach me!
I instinctively calmed my guts down after the first surprised glance, seeing he froze immediately when I spied him. I just wanted him to keep moving across my field of vision and into the hills.
I conjured up a calm positivity again–it helped a little bit (but not that much!) that the snake was so beautiful, and that rattlers have been an omen for me of new knowledge and creative gifts.
Very slowly, stopping and starting, the big snake moved forward after a few moments of relaxation issued from my stomach. Then would stop moving the split second I got gripped with fear. Finally he undulated out of range, and I could get up!
More often than not lately, something weird happens to me when I go to write my newsletter, but out of the experience comes a sign of the times, something relevant to the month’s or year’s energies and nature. My take-away was that in encountering power and opportunity in this volatile time, staying relaxed and peaceful made things flow and go forward; getting uptight and acting out of fear makes it much more likely to be strikingly opposed.
Have a wonderful month and stay cool!
P.S. My break is over and I’m ready to book more private psychic counseling and spiritual healing appointments, in person or by phone. Email me at elissa@elissaheyman.com, or call 505-982-3294.
Psychic Messages and Astrology for August 2012
Two Full Moons: The month begins on a full moon in Aquarius, and ends on a full (blue) moon in Pisces. In between, the stars suggest people can and will figure out alot, including how to attract new audiences. Do what’s important now, follow the right routine for success now in these fast-moving times. Don’t think you’ll have time to do it later, some opportunities never come around again. Opportunity hangs around like smoke, just for awhile.
Sun in Leo: It’s natural to want to have your way, to put a lot of energy into things and make sure they get done…it’s a kick-ass month. If you have no qualms about what you’re going after so aggressively–if you feel it’s right and right for you–go for it in this vibrant, dynamic atmosphere of opportunity–the power to create is as strong as the sun beating down.
Speaking of Leo, it can be a really different year for Leos, with the biggest changes in their worklife, beginning half-way through their birthday year.
For all signs: Where success lies for many now is in the unknown…be willing to try the untried and leave behind the familiar. It’s not important to hold to your old identity, only that you are acting on your fulfillment now.
It’s a great time to network and fan the flames of creativity with daring. Go with your forward-thinking ideas. Carry on into the summer nights of 2012!
Mercury is still retrograde the first eight days of August, emphasizing the right timing of continuing to “Get Stuff Done” that will clear your plate and simplify your life. It’s when to re-prioritize your life according to what you are finding important now.
Deep Stuff Can Surface: You’re likely to attract experiences that give you a way to release the past and move forward, even if it looks like you’re re-visiting your old self. Some kind of strange circumstance can develop and erupt that triggers your emotions. Dealing with it can release you from its clutches.
What matters most about what you go through this month, is how things can turn around. Don’t think you can’t change! Notice how you have changed!
Our Unstable World: It’s as if some mainstay to our structure snaps…there’s a fundemental breakdown beginning, probably with the credit and monetary system, allowing for greater change which manifests as soon as September.
August 2012 Personal and Spiritual Guidance (first published at the Examiner July 29, 2012)
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): You continue to journey towards new expressions and unfoldments of your own power, and something ignites…something that is not so familiar–there are new resources becoming evident. This happens once you make a move into new circles or gain privy to new worlds. Have faith the first third of the month, then you’ll more likely see what’s fulfilling and successful.
Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): More than one opportunity is being considered and they all make you happy! You get to have fun experiences that represent an entree into new circles–the world rejoices in you and you are invited to participate! This month’s activities lead to greater developments. Choose to pursue the bigger dreams, they have the best chance.
Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): You’re feeling a lot better about your position in life, and have peace of mind that recent accomplishments will further you…you’re moving up! There will soon be a sense of triumph in September if there isn’t yet..for some it may have already come. You’re due for a good turn, and it’s best to dream big. Be willing to make sacrifices for what you want, understanding: “...in the interest of X, I must do Y.”
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): True riches: you’re happier now, you’re grinning again, you’ve learned alot about what you do hold, and what to hold, dear. Let a renewed enthusiasm for life pour out in all you do. There’s no need to participate in deals or activity you don’t feel like doing or no longer believe in. You’re looking for just the right venue..trust your heart about what to put your energy into. The best thing to do must be felt, not reasoned.
